Woman Quits Job At Retail Store After Being Body-Shamed By Company CEO

Now that it’s 2016, womenaren’t berated for their physical appearance anymore! Hooray!

PSYCH. One store owner might need a reminder that it’s the new millennium after telling employee Sherene Zarrabishe wasn’t “model material” enough to do her job.

A student at Oklahoma State University, Zarrabi workedat juniors clothing store Dainty Hooligan when she received a shocking email from the company CEO.

Dainty Hooligan Founder and CEO Jessica Issler wrote in the email,

I want size small, the stereotypical ‘model’ type to model our clothes. Please use pictures of our models if Stillwater can’t find someone who would be considered ‘model material.’

Issler then went on to delete every picture of Zarrabi on the store’s Instagram feed. How professional.

After quitting her job, Zarrabi posted an inspirational message on her Facebook page, saying,

THIS is the reason young girls have body image issues. This is disgusting. I quit immediately and I suggest that my friends and family do not support Dainty Hooligan. Love yourself, no matter what you look like.

You tell her, Jessica. On a totally unrelated note, doesn’t she look amazing in chambray?!

Check out Zarrabi’s original Facebook post below, and next time you run into an insensitive dumb-dumb, kindly remind him or her there’s way more to a woman than her physical features.

This is an email I was forwarded earlier. I just want to start by saying this: I am fully comfortable with who I am and…
